Build lasting friendships

1. Be a good listener – Listen when they talk, instead of rushing to talk about yourself. Support your friends emotionally and be a soft place for them to fall.

2. Don’t be needy – Don’t sulk or be jealous if your friends have other friends. Have get-togethers and tell them to invite their other friends, thereby everyone can have a good time and expand your circle of influence.

3. Two-way street – Don’t demand too much. All relationships require give and take, in equal shares. This goes for emotional and other situations. You should reciprocate as often as you can, invitations, gifts, and being there for one another.

4. Be trustworthy – don’t betray your friends by lying to them, gossiping, messing with a partner, etc. Friendship should be a safe place for a person to be with another person they can trust completely.
