Coping with indecision

Nothing is as frustrating as a person who can’t make decisions… especially if it’s you!

There are so many options available in today’s harried life and each option has it’s own pro’s and cons. The question is which option suites you best? Unfortunately the answer doesn’t come that easily.

Before turning decision time into a nightmare, you should weigh up the importance of the decision. In other words, pick your battles – if it’s a decision that doesn’t really affect anything and which you can change at any time, don’t sweat about it! Go with your impulse!

So when you are ready to make a big decision, you are right on target if you want to make an informed decision and here’s how.

1. Do your research. Get all the facts and information and get opinions from people that have faced the same situation before. This will help you to see how it turned out for them and why as well as how they feel about the decision. If they regret it, ask why.

2. Ask for advice. Don’t just ask what you should do though – ask friends if they were faced with the same decision, which option they would chose and why. That way you get to see different opinions and motivation behind it.

3. Take as much time as you can before committing. Impulse decisions made when you were feeling pressured or vulnerable could cause long-term anguish.

Remember that no two people are the same and you need to remember that your feelings and values differ from other people. Don’t go with a decision unless you are 100% sure it is in line with your values and beliefs and always have an exit strategy!
